How to Pray The Bible

When facing a crisis, resources can become limited. The crisis may actually be a lack of resources. But in any situation, we can always pray. God has provided for his people a number of ways to pray effectively and to pray His will.

The Old Testament includes the Psalms. The book of Psalms is a prayer and worship guide for the people of God. Praying back to God his words found in the Psalms is an effective means for asking God for what He wants to do in a situation.

There are actual prayers recorded in the Bible. They are designed to be replicated. The Lord’s Prayer and Psalm twenty-three are just two examples. Another way of praying Scripture is to pick phrases that describe God’s character or his actions. Then pray that God would reveal who He is and what He desires to do in your life. You can also thank Him for being like that or for faithfully acting as He does as prayers of adoration.

We can even pray using Bible stories as a guide. When reading a Bible story find the main point and pray that. Or, let the details inspire you to think of things to pray for.

How long can you pray?

Don’t let fear control you. Control fear by praying God’s Word back to him.

Praying is lifting up to God His will and asking Him to accomplish what He wants. How much spiritual muscle have you developed in prayer? How much of God’s will can you lift up to him in any given time of prayer? Many of us can only pray for a few seconds. Maybe you can pray for up to 30 seconds. Yet, we can talk to others for hours. What does that say about our relationship with God?

Prayer is personal communication with God. It’s not like a Facebook like or a short text message. Prayer is a living two-way face-to-face conversation between you and your Creator. And when you pray, it’s okay to repeat requests or to ask God multiple times what concerns you and what He wants.

Pray Scripture

You are about to watch a short video on how to pray the Bible. There are many ways to pray Scripture back to God. In this video, several methods are explained. One of them is the ACTS method, which breaks down types of prayers into four categories. ACTS stands for Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Seeking answers.

It’s important to note that when Jesus faced a crisis he prayed Scripture. He did this several times and each time he was given strength to do God’s will. Crises generate feelings of fear and anxiety. But praying God’s word brings our wills and emotions under His lordship and relieves us of fear. When we pray Bible passages back to God it helps us control those things that brought on the crisis.
